Built on one bold decision

Since 2018, we’ve been adamant that there is a better way to provide legal services by following best practices from outside the legal profession.
We don’t only ask ourselves what other law firms are doing. Instead, we also ask ourselves what the best companies in the world are doing, and then we do our best to bring those best practices to life at our firm.
  • We refuse to accept that that working in private practice at a law firm means that you must give up your mental health, your hobbies, or the things that are important to you.
  • We refuse to accept that it's totally normal for clients to receive surprise invoices from their lawyers.
  • We refuse to accept the way things have always been done.
Our clients are ambitious. They're changing their industries. They're doing things differently. They're building businesses that they're proud of.
We're doing the same.
We’ve built our firm from the ground up, based on best practices and on what our clients continue to tell us they want from a law firm. If the feedback that we get from our clients is any indication, then we know we're doing something pretty special!

What makes us different

We believe that a law firm can do three things all at the same time:
Provide practical advice to clients and deliver great value
We know how frustrating it can be when lawyers provide advice that makes sense in theory but not in practice.
We've heard the same story so many times from clients. They went to a traditional firm, they got frustrated with the advice they were being provided, and they were looking for a better alternative.
Once they find us, it's rare that they leave.
We understand what it's like to be in our clients' shoes, and we make sure that we are giving them practical actionable advice that can help them accomplish their business objectives.
Treat team members in the way that they deserve to be treated
We hire capable people and then trust them to deliver.
That means genuine flexibility, no micromanaging, and fair pay - all while managing your needs and turnaround times.
We work to get everyone into their zone of genius, so that they can do more of what they're good at and what fulfils them, and less of what doesn't.
We take coaching and training seriously too, because real life isn't an episode of Severance. We're proud of what we've built behind the scenes, and we're happy to talk about how we operate (including the incredible system we’ve built on Notion to run the firm, not to mention how we’re leveraging AI to deliver work faster, better, and more cost-effectively).

We've worked through many of the same growth challenges our clients face, so we can help them build stronger businesses, not just with sharp legal advice but with hard-won lessons on scaling one.

How do I contact Renno & Co?
For existing clients, contact your assigned lawyer. For potential cilents, you can fill out our contact form on our website or send us an email at info@rennoco.com.
What kind of law does Renno & Co practise?
We’re a full-service corporate, crypto, and regulatory firm. We help with everything from raising money to buying and selling a business to negotiating services agreements to helping comply with regulatory requirements. We can also help you with intellectual property needs.
How does pricing work?
We are very comfortable with flat fees, and many of our clients hire us on flat fee arrangements. Where flat fees don't make sense, we are always happy to provide an estimate up front. Just ask!

Many of our clients also work with us on a standard billable hour arrangement. We don't like sending out surprise bills and we do our best to make sure that we're delivering value to our clients (not just in our eyes but in theirs as well).
Do you work in French and English?
Yes. We provide legal services in both English and French, and we can prepare agreements and correspondence in either language.
Where is Renno & Co located?
We have team members across Canada (including in Ontario, BC, Alberta, and Quebec). We also have a team of counsel in the U.S., and US companies regularly seek us out to provide practical legal advice. We work with clients in Canada, the US, and beyond.
Do I need to be a crypto company to work with you?
No. While much of our work is in crypto and fintech, we also work with all startups, scaleups, and founders across a wide variety of industries. One common theme is that our clients are looking for practical legal advice from lawyers who ‘get it’. Our clients also expect good value, and we do our best to deliver that.
